Under the tutelage of Mrs. Deanna Jayasuriya of the Deanna School of Dance since the age of 6, Ayumi Fernando of the En L’air School of dance and Ms. Victoria Arnett at the Brighton and Hove Dance Academy UK, Shonaka has successfully completed up to the vocational Advanced One examination of the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus, while also performing as the lead character in several ballets such as The Nutcracker, The Beauty and the Beast amongst numerous other ballets, musicals and dance competitions throughout her dance career.

A graduate in Economic and Business Management from the University of Sussex UK and currently reading for an MBA in Finance at the University of Colombo, Shonaka is keen to give back to the arts in Sri Lanka and support to develop a community and future for dance professionals in the country, using her professional and dance background.

Shonaka is a founding member of MeshGround and oversees the financial aspects, administration, and operation functions. She is also Assistant Director - Financial Marketing Services at Acuity Knowledge Partners and a part-time event planner through her start up Cirque Curated Events.
