Born and raised in the Hambantota district of Sri Lanka, Bhagya Laksha Virajani is a graduate of the University of Visual And Performing Arts with BA in Dance. Under the guidance of Umeshi Rajeendra and Venuri Perera, she began training in contemporary dance and had the opportunity in 2017 to work as a dancer in a production, one of the most important moments of her life. She joined Mesh Academy of Dance (now MeshGround) to expand on this study and had the opportunity to go to the University of Denison, USA in 2019 for a performance tour. Since then, Bhagya has been an active dancer, teacher and collaborator.
To further her research interests, Bhagya has also participated and been invited to Choreography Camps organized by the Goethe Institut, alongside her working with her mentors.
She is currently a teacher and dancer at MeshGround, a dance instructor for children with disabilities at the MJF Foundation, a puppet trainee at Power of Play and a management trainee in the government sector.
She is grateful to her current and past teachers for their guidance and artistry.
